Inventory of Infrastructure Resources and Their Impact on Secondary Schools Performance in The City of Maroua (Cameroon)
Abstract:
The aim of this article is to provide an overview of infrastructure resources and their influence on secondary schools in the city of Maroua, Cameroon. The hypothesis is that the availability of functional infrastructure resources adapted to expressed needs influences the performance of secondary schools in the city of Maroua. This study adopts a mixed methodology with a predominantly qualitative approach, interviewing 130 respondents by questionnaire and 21 by interview guide. The results show that, on the one hand, secondary schools in the city of Maroua have seven dimensions of functional infrastructure resources, but two are in short supply. On the other hand, this study reveals that these infrastructural resources affect the performance of the schools studied through their impact on improving student performance or success, discipline, student safety, facilitating the teaching process and improving school enrolment.
